Having left work in 2002 I set myself a target of at least one walk each month in order to maintain some sort of general fitness. To provide a little discipline and also learn
HTML(HyperTextMarkupLanguage) and Webpage construction I created a website Woodsdayout. This also gave me a platform to publish a few photos and allow distant family & friends to see what I'm up
Most walks are located within a radius of about an hours drive from Worcester UK. I use Ordnance Survey 1:25000maps and pick a location where I can string footpaths together for 10mile circular walk. A few walks turn out to be linear and this usually means waiting at a remote country bus stop hoping a bus will arrive. We've never been let down yet!
The majority of routes are in places I have never before visited and it's interesting to discover new places near home after a lifetime of walking in the Lake District, Western Highlands, Wales etc. None of the routes are pre-walked which very occasionally does result in some interesting navigational problems! You would be surprised just where some footpaths go.............."this can't be right" is an oft used phrase as we traverse a back-garden lawn.
Other pages connected with some of my interests will doubtless be added when time allows.
